Summary

Some organizations want to set a specific term for auto re-billing memberships. For example, you may want a monthly membership to automatically end after one year.

At this time, Join It does not support automatically setting a term for auto re-billing memberships. However, we do offer an effective workaround that allows you to control when these memberships expire.

How to Set a Term for Auto Re-Billing

Follow these steps to manually manage a term length:

  1. Set new memberships to default to the Pending status.

  2. When a new member signs up, set the subscription’s cancellation date to be one year from the signup date (or whichever term you prefer).

  3. After setting the cancellation date, update the member’s status to Active.

Once this is complete, the membership will automatically cancel at the end of the term you set.

Updating the Default Status on a Membership Type

To change the default status for new members:

  1. Go to the Membership Type page.

  2. Select the type you want to edit.

  3. Click Edit settings.

  4. Find the Assigned Members Statuses section and choose Pending.
