Summary

With Join It, you can connect your Slack groups so that all of your notifications can be sent to where your team already works: Slack.

What does the Slack Automation do?

The Slack automation lets you:

  • Create a notification for all members to be sent to a specific channel

  • Create a notification for members from a specific membership type to a specific channel

  • Set up multiple automations, so that notifications for members from specific membership types can go to separate channels.

Note: If you’re looking to invite members to your Slack workspace instead, follow these instructions.

How do I set it up?

To connect your Slack account and start receiving notifications:

  1. Log in to Join It and complete your initial setup if you haven't already

  2. Go to the Automations section

  3. Click the card labeled Slack

  4. If you haven’t connected Slack before, click 'Connect Slack' and log in with your Slack credentials

  5. Choose 'Send Notification of New Members to Slack'

  6. Select the membership types you want included (either All Members or a specific type)

  7. Choose the Slack channel where you’d like notifications sent

  8. Click 'Create Automation' to finish

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the automation remove Members when they go inactive?

No. Currently, Slack doesn’t offer a public API that allows us to automatically remove members when their membership ends. If that changes, we’d be happy to add this functionality.
