Summary

An important component of the Join It service is facilitating communication between organizations and their members. Within Join It, there's a variety of different features and tools to help:

  • Quick & Easy Emails: One-off emails that can be sent to segments of members

  • Automated Emails: Customizable emails that are automatically sent at specific Membership Life-cycle Events (e.g. when a member joins, or when a member expires)

  • Posts: Content that lives on your profile in the form of a blog post

In all of these experiences, we assist our organization admins in crafting these communications by providing a simple yet powerful editor.

Functionality

The basic function of the editor is to provide an easy way to compose messages - so that the person building the email or post understands that "What You See Is What You Get", which is why these editors are also commonly called "WYSIWYGs"!

Upload an Image

  1. To upload an image, navigate to the Editor and click on the "Image" icon in the tool bar

  2. Once clicked, you'll have 3 different options to upload an image to our image hosting (Drag an image, add by URL, or browse your computer)

  3. Once you've added the image, it'll appear in the Editor for you to preview

Embed a Video

Unlike images, Join It's image hosting won't support the uploading of videos - however, you can embed videos that are externally hosted on YouTube.

To embed a YouTube video, you'll need to navigate to the hosted YouTube video and use YouTube's tools to grab the external embed code. Once you have the code, you'll need to use the Editor's code button (which looks like this: "< >") to paste the embed code.

Add Custom Code

Within the Editor, there is also the advanced ability to add custom code. If you are familiar with HTML, then you can toggle the "< >" button to view and edit the code.

Once you're done editing the code, be sure to toggle the "< >" button again to preview the edits before saving!

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I embed a video that's not hosted on YouTube?

For cyber security, Join It maintains a short list of domains that can be rendered under our domain. So this means that any embedded video has to be from a supported hosting service and added to our 'approved' list.

Maintaining an 'approved' list keeps our services and community secure.

If you'd like us to consider adding additional Video hosting providers to our 'approved' list, then please reach out to our support staff with your request (and reference this article/FAQ).
