Summary

Managing past payment records shouldn’t be a hassle — but we know working with CSVs and spreadsheets can get tricky. If you’re looking to import historical financial data into your Join It account, we’ve got you covered. This guide walks through everything you need to know to make the process smooth and successful.

Note: Importing historical financial data is available to organizations on the Total Package plan and higher.

Understanding How Payments Are Stored in Join It

Before you import anything, it's helpful to understand how Join It handles financial data:

  • All payments must be linked to a member record.

  • That means each row in your import needs to include an email address, which is how Join It identifies and connects payments to the correct member.

Prepare and Submit Your Payment Data

Preparing Your Import File

To import historical payments, your spreadsheet must include the following columns:

Column Header

Details

email

Required to associate the payment with an existing member

currency

Use a valid 3-letter ISO code (e.g., usd)

payment_date

Format must be YYYY-MM-DD

payment_value

Use zero-decimal integers (e.g., $10.00 = 1000 in cents)

notes

Add custom internal notes for each payment — viewable in the member’s record. This field is optional.

No need to include membership-specific info (e.g., type, expiration) — that's already tied to the member and doesn’t need to be re-imported with payment data.

Submit Your Import File

Once your CSV is ready, you can send it directly to our team for import.

  • Attach your file in an email and send it to support@joinit.com.

  • Include a brief message letting us know that this is historical payment data for import.

  • If there are any special notes (e.g., date ranges, data source, Stripe connection), feel free to include that as well — it helps us ensure everything goes smoothly.

We'll review the file, confirm details with you if needed, and then get the data imported into your account.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I bulk import Stripe Subscriptions?

Yes — if you were previously using Stripe and still have those records, we can help you import subscription IDs and customer ID's to connect to those existing subscriptions.

Here's where you can learn more on how to do this.
