Inactive Notices (Type A) - Automatic Email Sent When a Membership Expires

Summary

As a membership platform, Join It supports organizations by automating the membership life cycle. These automations save our customers hundreds of hours each month with automated emails triggered by key membership events.

One of these events occurs when a membership reaches its expiration date. When this happens, Join It automatically sends an Inactive Notice (Type A) - also referred to as an expiration notice.

As a note, there’s a separate automated email called Inactive Notice (Type B), which is triggered when a membership is explicitly canceled (rather than expiring naturally). These two messages can be customized independently, allowing organizations to tailor messaging for members who expire (more likely to renew) versus members who cancel (less likely to return).

Details of Inactive Notices (Type A)

When a membership expires, Join It will automatically send the member an expiration notice on their expiration date. This email notifies them that their membership has expired and includes a clear call to action to renew.

If the member clicks the Renew Membership button in the email, they’ll be taken directly to a pre-filled renewal form, making it quick and easy to renew their membership.

  • Call to Action to Renew: Each email includes a personalized link that takes the member directly to their renewal form.

  • Customizable Messages (by Membership Type): Organizations can tailor the message for each Membership Type to create a more personalized experience.

  • Admin Notification: From the Communications tab, organizations can choose which admins are BCC’d on these expiration messages.
