Summary
Join It allows you to track prospective members or non-members by creating a dedicated membership type. This is helpful if you want to keep potential members in your system without counting them as active, paid members.
Creating a Membership Type for Prospective Members
Step 1: Create a New Membership Type
Start by creating a new membership type here:
https://app.joinit.com/membership-types/new
You can name this membership type something like Prospective, Leads, or Non-Members, and customize the rest of the settings as needed.
Step 2: Set the Default Status to Prospective
At the bottom of the membership type setup box, click 'Use advanced creation for membership types'.
This will open additional options beyond the standard membership setup. Under 'Assigned Member statuses', select Prospective. This ensures that anyone added under this membership type will automatically be marked as a prospective member rather than an active one.

Step 3: Add a Prospective Member
Once the membership type is created, you can add a prospective member by visiting: https://app.joinit.com/members/new
When adding the member, select the prospective membership type you created. The member will be added to your database with a Prospective status.
Alternative Option: Using an Existing Membership Type
If you don’t wish to create a new prospective membership type, you can also add a member under any existing membership type and then manually change their status to Prospective. This is a useful option if you want to track someone in your system while indicating that they are not an active member.
