Summary

Join It offers Digital Membership Cards that can be viewed across a number of platforms, including:

You may notice that your card doesn't look exactly the same on each of these platforms and that's to be expected due to constraints from Apple Wallet and Google Wallet. Let us explain why in more detail below.

Each Platform Controls Its Own Design

When your Digital Membership Card is added to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, the card's appearance is determined by that platform: not by Join It.

Apple and Google each have their own design guidelines, layout rules, and rendering engines that dictate how pass and wallet content is displayed. This means the fonts, spacing, colors, field arrangement, and even which information is shown can differ from platform to platform.

These are constraints that Join It, and every other wallet pass provider, must work within. We provide your membership data to each platform, but we cannot override how that platform chooses to present it.

The Web View Is Not a Preview of Your Wallet

A common expectation is that the web version of your Digital Membership Card should be an exact preview of how the card will appear in your Apple Wallet or Google Wallet. The web view is its own standalone rendering of your membership card. It is not intended to be a pixel-perfect replica of any particular wallet's display.

There are many factors that go into the presentation of these cards within these proprietary Wallets β€” including the type of device (e.g. iPhone or Watch), size of the device (e.g. iPhone Air or Pro Max), version of operating system, operating system settings (e.g. user selected font size), and more β€” so we wouldn't be able to accurately predict the exact layout of the card within the Wallet. Since the actual layout is divergent based on these unknown factors, it's impossible to render a true preview.

Additionally, Apple and Google do not provide a way for third parties to perfectly replicate their proprietary card layouts outside of their own apps, so it would be inaccurate for us to try to mimic them.

Instead, the web view is designed to clearly present your membership information in a clean, accessible format that works across all browsers and devices.

What Stays Consistent

While the visual presentation may vary, the underlying membership information on your card remains the same across every platform. Details like your name, membership ID, membership status, and any other fields configured by your organization will always be present regardless of where you view your card.
